Catching Up With Yourself

Having spent the past two months in Indore, coming back to Bangalore feels like getting back on a treadmill. Both literally and figuratively.

Literally, because I didn’t join a gym there. Figuratively, because life here picks up again. It’s structured, fast, and constantly moving forward.

Back in Indore, things slow down. And yet, even with all the time in the world, it’s strangely hard to find room for side hustles, creative focus, or personal routines. Maybe it’s just how home wraps you in familiarity that takes away the urgency. When you’re comfortable, the drive to hustle somehow fades. Although slowing down doesn’t always mean falling behind, sometimes it’s just a way of catching up with yourself.

But here’s what I’ve been thinking about: How much space do elements like stillness (the quiet moments that let you pause and reflect), your roots (the places, people, and memories that shaped you), and deep bonds (built by spending time with your family and friends) hold in your definition of success? Because honestly, I am starting to think we might have this whole success thing a bit backward.

PS – The funny thing is, back at home, the hardest part is still explaining what flexible work hours really mean and how I can have work during the day as well as attend and host calls during US hours. My family’s convinced I am either always working or never working, there’s no in-between in their minds! But all said and done, I am really grateful for a job that allows me to work from home when life needs it and ease back into routine when the time is right.
